Just trying to get my head around what's going on with paint these days.
Can anyone give me a run down on current paint types and pro's cons?
I had a look a Jawel on ebay and they offer 2k acrylic, cellulose and synthetic.
Then there's polyurethane.
Not sure about where non-isocyanate paints fit into this, or water based for that matter!
My primary interest is painting military vehicles, so perfect finish is not as important as toughness. Imagine having to walk over the bonnet to get in your car through the sun roof every time!
I've read about the dangers in using 2k and looked at the cost of the required breathing kit.
I'm looking at painting maybe 4 vehicles and occasional touch ups etc. So not regular use.
Some of the vehicles are large and would have to be painted outside, so heated drying might not be easy, but a temporary tent would be possible as I have the space outside.
I already have a 14.5cfm 8bar compressor. If 2k is going to be the best paint to use, what breathing kit is recommended?
Cheers.
