This is a not at all important question, more options for a long term quest.


Can copper PCB plates be used as a substitute for etched steel plates?
I only wonder as its easy to etch.

Don't see why not. If they hold the ink OK it should transfer to the pad OK I would think. Need to get a mat finish on the copper probably to get it to hold the ink.

I guess it depends how much relief you need, you can plate up the copper thicker but standard is 35/70um

Do you want some etched pcb's that were wrong so havent been tinned or soldered on to test with ?

You can easily get copper clad boards with photoresist on them. UV transfer a transparency onto them and then etch away with ferric chloride (alternatives are available).

RS sell a conformal spray can coating which will preserve the etched copper very well.

Scrap that, I found polymer plates that just need uv exposure then washing off
