Watching the news this morning and it headlined with the disaster unfolding in the India Corona virus epidemic.
Anyway ICU Hospitals have run out of oxygen to treat desperately ill patients and they are seeking oxygen supplies anywhere. Saw pictures of a truck full of what looked like industrial cutting gas cylinders being unloaded.
Is the Oxygen inside these cylinders safe and pure enough to breathe or will it just compound the problem?

The cylinders for cutting and medical gas look the same, its just the markings that will be different.

Medical oxygen will have a higher purity etc than industrial.

IF they are using non- medical grade then I presume it can be cleaned and then put into certified bottled OR by using the "any oxygen is better than no oxygen".

Either way I'm glad I got my oxy bottle last week.

Covid patients without oxygen will be suffering assively from hypoxia and this leads to way more issues than those on oxygen even if it's not medical grade oxygen.

Without it many just won't survive that would have with oxygen.

Most covid patients here in the UK were on 15lpm of oxygen. We had tens of thousands needing that earlier this year so multiply the numbers to India and it no surprise they have run out.

The difference in purity between the two is something like 0.3%.

Most of that is probably down to the bottle prep.

I fell and hit my head the morning I was due to fly back from Bangalore a few years ago. Blood was pouring out of the wound so I took some towels from the hotel bedroom and tended to myself all the way home.
Oddly enough, Emirates airline wouldn't even give me a paracetomol

Anyway - the point of the tale is that I had a stark choice between going to the airport with blood pouring from my head or going to the Indian hospital and missing my flight.
My GP agreed with my decision the following day, even if it was too late to put any stitches in.

You did the right thing. There’s more chance of you getting more broken than fixed

My brother and I were there good few years ago. He got a serious case of Delih Belly and ended up dehydrated. My cousin had him admitted in a Bombay top private hospital. I had him home the next morning. The hospital was not what we are used to experiencing .......

At the other end of the spectrum I have a Indian friend who a few years ago was convinced he had a brain tumour, took out life insurance and booked a flight back home to see his doctor there, turned out to be a blocked sinus and couple of tablets later was as good as gold. Oh how much we teased him.
