the acetylene reg will fit onto the propane bottle there both left hand threadhi, i want to use my oxy acetlene braizing set without the acetlene, but with regular propane instead, is this possible and where can i get the adapter to connect my regulator to the propane bottle?
ive just been out and double checked the regs for acetylene fit on to the callor propane bottles so your propane bottle must be a diffrent type or your acetylene bottles must be diffrent from boc or air products bottlesdont think so, maybe things are different in ireland?
quoted from here and here. Regulators have diaphragms in them, could they be different materials for the same reasons as the hoses? Acetylene is lighter than air, propane heavier than air. Working pressures are different, mixtures are different, flow rates are different. As said it'll work, but different kit/torch parts exist for a reason.'propane has some solvent properties and therefore hoses should be of the correct material as shown and the correct colour, orange. 'Hoses used with acetylene are coloured red and are designed to resist acetone. For this reason other fuel gas hoses must not be used'.
The exterior may look perfect but the gas flows through the inside...my hoses are 20 years old and have no damage or arent perished in any way
were all entitled to our own opinions. if thats the road u want to go down not a problem. all i stated was i and many others have used the equipment for many years without a problem the pro s and cons wether to would rumble on forever so il just leave it at thatHoses aren't a different colour for the hell of it or just to get people to spend more money, they're made from different materials for a reason

acetylene is disolved in acetone which is basicaly a solvent which has corosive tendencys .propane is a pure gas and has no corosive tendencies so no problem using red hose instead of orange unless u are in a works and everything must be the right colour a propane reg gives out 4 bar pressure an acetylene reg 1.5bar . using a saphire torch with propane isnt a problem using standard blowpipes as boc would have u believe as they use for welding . but for silver soldering and brazing there fine its just a bit harder to regulate the flame . if using the saphire torch with the cutting atachment on the nozzle must be changed for propane use heres a picture of the flame uising propane with standard blowpipe and an acetylene regulator .people have been using these for years without problems my hoses are 20 years old and have no damage or arent perished in any way i have a new set but why bother changing if theres nothing wrong with the old ones

theres no problem brazing with it just not hot enough for welding .the nozzle i showed used was a no 2Have you actually welded with the oxy propane through the standard torch? I've seen it tried and all it does is turn metal into coke due to the nature of the flame. You might be able to braze with it if you go up a few tip sizes.
