I have a full size Oxy-Acetylene and a Portapak Oxy-Acetylene in the workshop, and they sit there ready to go, one with cutting gear, the other with a welding torch fitted, but obviously the tanks firmly shut off. They don't get used very often, but when they do it's usually a 'hurry up' type of job.
From a safety point of view I'd like to keep them in a locked bottle cage outside the workshop, so in the event of a fire the Fire Brigade can easily hose them down and remove them to safety rather than refuse to enter the workshop and declare a ten mile exclusion zone!
It would be a pain to have to remove the guages / hoses etc each time they are used, but if I don't then potentially I am giving any prowling burglar with a battery angle grinder the tools to cut his way into my workshop.
Any comments, suggestions or experiances you can share?
