Excuse my ignorance, have always used flashback arrestors but unaware of check valves as a separate item. Please enlighten.
my regs are dated about 45 years old along with the rest. I have bought some new hoses mind and I do test the flashback arestors once a year . just fill the pipes up turn the bottles off and slacken the regs of bottles and the back pressure flicks out the flashback arrestors and I just reset themMy Kit has to be inspected annually by BOC, any quibbles and hoses / regulators get replaced, regs have to be in-date too.

That’s what I had todayI have a mate who hasnt arrestors fitted or check valves I gave him a set to put on but he hasnt bothered he recons hese never had a problem in 40 years . yea till one day and he wished he had . ive had mine trip twice in 40 odd years and had a burn back. its easy to tell because when you go to relight the torch a load of soot comes out

Tbh I’m a nightmare for not remembering to back the regulators off.Tell you what bugs me.
Folks not clising off the regulators and telling those still learning the job not to do it!
Sure its, a tad faster and compensates for lack of knowledge / memory if settings but it can all go badly wrong real fast
Its the speed of operation of the bottle valves. It just isn't hammered home like it used to be! Not kidding when i say if i did that as an apprentice i would have been batteredTbh I’m a nightmare for not remembering to back the regulators off.
As long as the lines have all been purged though and the bottles are opened slowly I can’t see too much of an issue.
