Oxford Mig Welders - Opinions Please

Hi all,

Asking this question just out of interest and as a useful resource really. Have looked everywhere and havent really found any truly useful, honest reviews of Oxford Mig Welders.

If you have had any experience of one please let me know what you thought - good or bad.

I have two Oxford MIGs, a 120s and a MIG300... but they're as old as the hills, I suspect the question relates to modern equipments.

I believe Oxford MIGs are curently built by the wizards of arc down in York, so they're generally well-screwed-together, with components specified adequately for the job they're meant to do (I suspect many people hammer welding sets without a thought for the rated duty cycle so nothing will last forever under those circumstances). They build welders for various other people as well (some of which brands I own and/or have worked on as an electronics techie) and I'd say that whilst the overall construction picture is still a bit 'cottage-industry', they do have the advantage of being fairly easily diagnosed when they do go wrong and the makers will supply almost any part you need to keep them going, even several years down the line.

The two Oxfords I have date back to the 80s and they certainly don't weld any worse than modern sets that various friends and colleagues own.
