Overalls

I have been using a set of overalls my Grandad had when he was working in Bahrain, he was a fire safety officer on supertankers. The overalls are thin, short sleeved and generally great for summer here. Unfortunately our sunny days are coming to an end, and I want a pair of quilted overalls (preferably brown) for the winter months. Where do you get yours from and who's a good brand to buy from (or avoid)?

Volvo or Scania trucks did quilted very good quality but beware of rip off

Interesting. Just looked and Scania have a whole webshop of goodies, and tonnes of clothing. Thanks for that.

Some of the Scania overalls also had wear pads sewn into high impact areas, don't know if they are still the same.

NATO tank drivers suits.
They are fire retardant and have a removeable quilted liner. Made for chasing Russians around europe in winter inside a tin box.
Shipping to the Antipodes might be a problem though. Also equipped with a discrete shoulder holster which is handy for shooting buskers.

There is a military surplus shop in town I frequently go to, buy my boots there, jumpers, bags, jackets... so long as you don't mind green or navy everything is okay I will ask, they have the weirdest stock come in, just the other day I bought a 60's issue Swedish waterproof vinyl jacket for my dad, great for doing the gardening in winter as it rains quite a bit where we are.

In 1989 I was sharing a unit with a bloke who had a pair of those, but they were metalised, they had the suade shoulder holster!
I still had a pair, until I got to fat for them, lovely and warm. For a while everyone in the yard was wearing them, it was like
some sc-fi film all the blokes were wearing silver overalls.

I love carhartt gear really tough thick gear
They have various versions of flannel and quilted overalls and dungarees so lots of options

My mate grabbed me some quilted canvas waterproof overalls and matching hooded coat when he was in the states a few years ago. Made by Golden Armor and they are without doubt the best winter overalls I have ever had. Warm as toast, can put them on while still wearing your boots and I have been laying in puddles under machines and they never let any water through. Also despite being heavy they dont restrict movement.
