Outside bench idea, show me yours

As you may know winchboy has a workshop with some outside space, whilst working on Winchgirls camper we struggled with having no outside work area, so show me your outside bench as we need inspiration, oh and it must be free or cheap to build.

What about a pair of builders trestles and scaffolding planks ?

I used building trestles and/or sawhorses + scaff planks until I got some 5ft lengths of 200x18(ish) steel.

I also have a "paulk" style torsion box "bench top" that I rest across the same trestles/sawhorses.

Depending upon what you need, a b&d workmate with a bigger piece of sacrificial 18MM MDF on top is also usable: or a "keter" plastic folding workbench.

Or...
Costco do some folding collapsible picnic tables for "not a lot".
Again: a disposable piece of mdf on top is surprisingly resilient (if a little smokey!) as long as it's kept dry.

Ive got a 3mtr length of 38mm kitchen work top that i use between trestles, nice and strong but a bit bulky to store if your tight for space, also a few large pallets that plasterboard and sheet timber were delivered on, again
bulky to store but great for cutting large sheets of stuff

Consider using an old door on a couple of saw horses.

Here’s mine,it has been known to have an extension on it ,an old headboard.always positioned according to the weather,and view required .

Mine's a four metre length of 12" square greenheart on top of some concrete blocks. It was free too, all I had to do was lift it out the skip and into the back of my van.

I just drop the 3 sides of my old Cabstar and instantly have a work bench when i need to work outside

Here's mine, all free; the 4x2s were leftover from another project, the pieces of slate were cap stones on a local wall getting demolished and the sink was just sat in someone's front garden, it had been there so long stuff was growing in it!



I must sort out that downpipe at some point, pain in the ass like that, the sink fills up with moss from the roof.

Pretty much the same here as well, I drop the sides on the trailer if there's a bit to do.



If I am down the field I clamp some board or a plank or two across the forklift forks, gives a perfect height, or if working in the yard I have an old 8x3 table we made for sisters marquee wedding 10 years ago and still going strong

The need for a workshop, tell me about it! This is mine:



I potentially have this as an outside bench option. A decently welded up, cross braced table / jig for making fence panels. Rather than outside I could see this being the centrepiece of a saw bench cum layout table in the centre of my yet to be built workshop. Easily converted back for fencing duties.

Hoping the jig owner might let me have it on permanent loan. It's in my garden at the mo with a shed and various stored timbers on top.
