I bought a car (Rover SD1 V8) off a chap with massive face injury. He said there was a second spare wheel in the shed so we went to fetch it.Whilst in the shed, looking for the wheel, the chap came across a petrol chainsaw and said "that is what did this to me". He said the thing never ticked over until one day he was up a ladder cutting branches when he slipped. The chainsaw was thrown away but his face landed on it and for once it kept running !

Nah, I reckon he was trying to wrap himself in giant Selotape, and was using the 'saw' to cut it from the reel when he slipped............!

Because the blade isn't designed for that tool and wouldn't fit with it on



I've worked with spinning blades for years as a chippie. I treat em with respect and I've managed to get by with a couple of minor cuts.

Skinned a knuckle with a awkward double bevel cut. Knicked a fingertip with a skilly on my first week


Done more harm to myself on the sharp edges removing an old sink.

yeah been the same with me but i have removed the guard but miss placed the guard for it as was making it bigger to refit it again but didnt

ive cut my finger with a grinder beveling plastic 4" pipe and ive seen it recently by a drain company users themselves same thing no guard on theres and beveling an edge on plastic fittings

what a reminder but at least i had a guard on mine at teh time

nail guns got my hand a few times holding wood in place

but the worst is vitralite tiles and toilet / sinks there so sodding sharp they can slice fingers off and really cut skin badly and deeply lost many a knuckle and slices are just rediculous with them

I did ask whether paper cuts ought to go in the accident book at work if every little nick from building machines on the shopfloor had to . . . paper cuts hurt! I can't remember the answer - I might have to ask again tomorrow . .

Got a bit of a fright using a wire wheel on a grinder once, grabbed my glove, typical screwfix cotton backs with rubber fingers. Tied my hand and fingers up in a knot and gashed one finger, the speed of it was so fast. I use them gloveless now and with a lot of respect. Grinder chainsaw disks and ones like above are pushing it I feel!

One of the Filipino deck guys on my old ship asked me to spin up a steel adaptor for a 10” saw blade, no problem, I thought,

Then I found he was using it to put said saw blade onto a 9” angle grinder, for chipping paint and rust off the deck.

I didn’t let him use it, much to his chagrin....
