Think I'll get the Lidl machine. If I find that its getting a lot of use, I'll use it to destruction, bin it and get a better make. Simples

I bought one of these today.

It's got a decent weight to it, generous cable and cuts food and copper pipe ok.

The instructions/packing indicates it can cut nails/fixings. I tried it on a screw and it absolutely, 100% cannot At least not with the blade supplied.

metal blades have fine teeth and cut well / are u sure the screw wasnt hardened as most are nowadays

Perticulaly for opening sculls, a similar unit is used for cutting plaster casts without damaging flesh.

Thought I would look to see what the curren Argos price for there Bosch one was and took a look at the video "Bosch DIY Expert" using it. Well when he cut the bottom of a door frame to allow the wood flooring to slip under....Think he needs to go to an options! think I could have cut streighter with a chisel !!

Gordon I have an sds drill and a load of pnuematic tools from aldi ,and a couple of car stereo's.If you keep the receipt there is a 3year gaurantee,one stereo failed after 2 1/2yrs ,the repairers listed in the manual had ceased trading,phoned aldi head office,who told me to box it back up send it to them (get a receipt from P.O)and they refunded the whole purchase price plus the postage ,without a any problems... not sure i have a use for a recip tool myself though

We used to carry one on the rescue unit for cutting crash helmets off, found out when practising it's b****y noisy inside the helmet!

I had a quick scout on Saxton Trading's ebay shop and even their bi-metallic blades I saw stated "non-ferrous".

One thing I forgot to mention before: once plunged a half inch into wood it don't half vibrate!

all the blades are fine as there isnt much oscillation i tried brazing a hss hacksaw blade on one it didnt realy work, the blades only cut one way . as for vibration and noise there all the same. i wear ear muffs when using and after 10 mins get a dead hand and wrist
