No silicone cover but when I say sticky it is just rough and catches. Same as my old Optrel - badly designed switch.Look on the inside, opposite side of the grind switch.
There is a rubber cover on the back of the button bit.
That just pulls off and the battries are under there.
Use some good quality replacements not pound shop specials.
Also, there should be a silicone cover over the grind button to stop it going sticky. Give me a shout if it's missing as I have some spares.

CheersYou can get covers for them. I have some if you want one.
Stops bits of crud getting around the edges of the button which rip up the plastic and make the switch sticky.
Might be a bit late to put one on yours though!
