I for one would suggest you can't! It's not an exact science, or at least that is what experience has taught me over the last few years, can anybody see the billy goats?

We have had the welds optimised on some of our automated machines, but it is usually done by experience and then having the welds macro tested, never heard of a formula to do it.

yap,I'm an engineering student,the topics of my thesis work is"optimization of MIG welding by using Genetic Algorithm". Thanks for your replies. I'm just fall in a big river to solve this problem. i have to build a soft . any doc or info which can help .
