I was wondering if my method for welding these spreader plates is correct or not, these are spreader plates welded on the front lower arms, thickness of the plates are 5mm and the lower arms is 3mm,I've used a SUPERMIG 150 on the max setting to weld the bottom piece and the second to last setting for the top piece (the metal from the bulkhead is only about 1.5mm).
My doubt being if these would be acceptable for a part that's meant to be structural,I know you're not supposed to use this technique for thicker material but then again I've seen it used often from reinforcement plates to roll cage mounts.
Reason I didn't do continuos welding is I'm not quite as consistent as I would like to be yet and vertical welding screws me up,I was wondering wheter it's worth it to just grind this down and, before trying again with a continuos weld, practice until I'm confident enough if this is a lot weaker than it should be,thanks for your help.
