Don’t be too harsh on them. On another(?) forum, recently, there was a fellow actually wiring and running his electric motor between live and earth. Clearly needed a RCD in the circuit to show him his faulty wiring (not that it would have prevented the motor being wired that way!).

there a pain in the ass when your working in offices and banks trip em off and you have a ton of women on your case wiping there work off the computers^ no pesky RCD's in them days!![]()

nowt wrong with thatReminds me of my time in the foundry in the 70's, most boards in the factory were 3 phase only so if you needed a 240 volt drill it was quickly lashed in between a phase and earth![]()
a double socket lashed on to the 100 amp busbar with a bit of 2.5mm cable
