another 62 posts deviating has the op sorted his simple open circuit problem yet

Don’t be too harsh on them. On another(?) forum, recently, there was a fellow actually wiring and running his electric motor between live and earth. Clearly needed a RCD in the circuit to show him his faulty wiring (not that it would have prevented the motor being wired that way!).

Reminds me of my time in the foundry in the 70's, most boards in the factory were 3 phase only so if you needed a 240 volt drill it was quickly lashed in between a phase and earth

there a pain in the ass when your working in offices and banks trip em off and you have a ton of women on your case wiping there work off the computers

nowt wrong with that a double socket lashed on to the 100 amp busbar with a bit of 2.5mm cable

I managed to knock out a Tesco's petrol station once. How the hell was I supposed to know they all run off RCD's? I haven't been trained in petrochemical electrical work!
I got it switched back on asap but quietly slinked off when I heard the duty manager didn't know how to reset the tills...
