Could have been worse. Thinking it was 110v when infact it was 240v and scratching your head wondering why it wouldn't look at butter hot. Happened to me with an angle grinder, soft start my a**e.

I have done that intentionally when cutting perspex with a jig saw, before I had variable speed one, actually I dont even think V/S where made then !, on 240 it would melt onto the blade but on 110 it would cut all day. nice and steady.

never done a voltage switch but often/ regular taken out 110v instead of the 240 without a transformer. 110v always seems to come with a proper plug attached when new now so its a hard mistake to make

we had a new fridge engineer start with us in his late 40's gave him his kit which included a 110v transformer 110v henry' all he had to do was fit a 110v plug. No problem I thought for a commercial fridge guy.
week later boss is ringing me to find out why this guy had fitted a 240v plug top? went and seen him and asked the Q. The reply came back the vac stated it was 115v so he couldn't fit a 110v plug it had to be 240v.
let's say de didn't pass his probation. that was one of many stories form just a month.
