While my hazards were on, it was once I had slowed to walking pace as I aproached the drive way and manouvered into position for reversing.

To me, it sounds and looks like you need a van for work anyway so this may be the opportunity to get one!

A suitable van would be a very significant cost for minimal gain, I intend to focus on climbing work for other businesses, either paye or subby, rather than general garden stuff. A tipper van would actually have less space for tools and equipement and any work van would advertise the storing of tools, even if nothing valuable is left inside. Tree work vans are a common target for theft.
Tree vans are expensive, very expensive to insure.
I know one that often while parked, had household rubbish thrown in the back, which is a massive pain to get rid of!

The only real advantage would be the ease of removing waste, it mighr help to get some jobs but generally, I dont want to do that. Would also require me to do a waste transfer licence.
Also prevent me from doing household tip runs, which I often need to take personal rubbish.

I assume you were intending this manouvre (except it ends at D):

In which case he must have hit you at B...at that point you're not commited to front in or reverse in so he's clearly at fault. Also no need for hazards which could have confused.
