Online logo design and business card design

I'm looking at trying to design a logo and sort out business cards for my new part time business.I seem to have spent ages playing around on a few sites so has anyone any recommendations for sites to try.Want something that will catch attention so not too basic looking.

I used one of the many online ones, but did the text with word and copied and pasted. or take theirstandard design and edit it to your text/ pictures. But if your struggling, find a local printers. They'll help you, itll be a couple of quid more.

I keep any business cards I am given in my wallet, its only the plastic ones that survive. Just saying.

For what it’s worth.

I’d get a designer to do it. It won’t be much. Maybe approach the college and ask for a teacher / student to have a look?

I tried to do mine and realised whilst I’m good at what I do, I’m ****e at designing business cards and logos and things.

Went and saw a designer (can pm details if you like) and she did it all. Raised some very valid points I hadn’t considered. (Eg put something useful on the back and folk are more likely to keep them.)

£60 later and I had the design work done. Plus all the graphics files for signwriting, embroidery etc.

I buy my stationery through her as it seems the right thing to do but I could take what she gave me to any print house.

You get one shot at a first impression so it’s worth getting it right. That’s my thoughts anyway.

So true, its the reason I employ someone to do all the meeting/greeting and why most of my customers dont know who I am

Along time ago we paid a young lady to come up with a logo best thing we did , pens embroidery note paper cards unforgettable.

If you give them a brief and they come up with something you like does it matter?
And they will do the bits you don’t even realise are necessary like using a font and colour and file format printers will be able to work with.

i can’t tell you what makes good branding, but everyone can spot a crap one a mile off.

I know a company that spent £1million
on rebranding and updating their website. Their new logo looks so simplistic and basic. The website still isn't right a year down the line.

Have you tried asking Chat GPT?

Lot of designers are panicking over its abilities to "effectively" plagiarise "everyones" designs to come up with an "original".

If you're happy with the concept of kicking humans out of a job, it's 1. free 2. fast and 3. pretty damned good...

Fuel is £1.38 in first pic so not that long ago @premmington.
We sold it 34+ years ago went back to Communications (Mobile radio) r engineering, and other things.
When we were running rally cars we used to give pens to start /finish marshals people still say you were the Co that gave out those pens with the hand and spanner

Ok, a bit more time to answer now.
Played about on a free logo deisgn site where you pay for cards or promotional items, not overly expensive, or about £35 to be able to use the logo.Logos I've come up with are:-

Possibly in order of choice, bottom one somehow reminds me of autosmart.
Business will be part time auto upholstery, I currently work part time doing the same but have a couple of days a week spare.Will only be doing seating and smaller items due to lack of space, no full cars.Bring me the seats and I'll cover them but I won't remove or refit.
The plan is to stick to later model cars, ones that the owner wants an upgrade on, such as bmw, landrover,etc.No classic cars or seat repairs though my brother might be able to get me some repairs from fedex vehicles.
Already have about six scooter seats lined up for recovering.
So although it will be a serious business its more of a time filler rather than something that has to make a huge amount of money, just nice to make a little extra.
