Looking for a stud that screws into wood , which then allows a threaded screw ,say 2ba, be screwed into it, for easy removal and refitting of the stock pad on my over/under clay buster. the reason being I have a 3mm spacer in during summer ,come winter I take it out , and just wood screws tend to loosen after several ops.Thanks in advance

Finding something with a 2BA female thread will be near impossible.

M5 would be the nearest you would find.

Can you get to the underside of the item? Then you could make a top hat nut with that internal thread and glue it in to stop it rotating; the brim would stop it pulling through.

Perhaps you could use an M8 insert and make an M8 to 2BA adaptor.

I have a box of assorted inserts but I'm not sure what 2ba is, it's it M3? Or is it a special pitch in brass? Happy to put a couple in the post if you can clarify sizes

The Wiki link says 2BA is used in darts (of the Jockey Wilson type). An old one, suitably trimmed, could form the basis of an insert.

Just done an eBay search for knurled brass inserts , that might also give you what you are after , Especially the heat set in plastic knurled threaded moluints , you can poxy resin them in place very effectively. Two threaded on a waxed screw would allow a fair workable depth long screw in what evrr thread form you choose .
Once cured remove the waxed screw .

if you take your half horse motors off the likes of myfords or old pillar drills the studding that holds the electrical connections is usually 2ba..

3 item in @6ply post 5mm we used them for Morgan floor to chassis fixings, the whole car flexes a fair bit.
I also used them to fit runners in the van draw carcasses when we fitted them out they never moved with a fair bit of weight in the 5Ft long draws, which pulled out 4Ft

BA's a great thread - probably my favourite. Mathematically a good idea (though it got a bit bodged between theory and practice) and ergonomically I find it very pleasant to use when applying fasteners. I use it on my own projects a lot.
