Hi all, a while back a friend asked for wiring advice for pendant lampholder. I advised her she'd need 3 core flex if the holder body was metal, which it was, as it would need to be connected to earth. She's now bought one from eBay which looks like this;
if you look at the lower right photo you'll see theres a sleev between the lampholder and the outer casing, which she said was made of cardboard and had been advised to leave in place, which I presume acts as the insulating medium and removes the need for an earth connection.
My question is, is this UK regs compliant? I would imagine that the insulating sleeve would/could degrade over time, leaving one exposed to the danger of electric shock.
