One for the (pedal) bikists - bargain bike stands at Aldi

I've been on the lookout for a bike maintenance stand for a while but can't bring myself to spend £50 on one.

Then was in Aldi yesterday and they have £30 stands on clearance at £15. Having just put it together I'd say it was a bargain at the original price, let alone at £15. While-stocks-last-in-your-local-store, and all that...

I also saw these and picked one up last week, though so far my bicycle has managed fine without one, I suspect this may have other uses too - spraying stand perhaps...
They had many left in Crawley.

I bought one several years ago, very good, excellent for the money. I’ve used it for other things, hanging bits on when painting as Kram says. Can’t really go wrong at the price. It supports my E-bike ok, a bit heavy to lift it up though.

These bike stands make working on push bikes very easy. We got one years ago when all our kids had bikes needing repairs.

I've had one for many years from same source. Well worth the money.
Funnily enough I've not used mine all that much for bike mtce (most of the time it's easier & more secure to invert the bike to work on drivetrain, wheels, brakes tbh).

However, as a light-duty portable, foldable vice stand - the base is just great! I shortened the upright tube & made/welded a vice plate to it to carry a 4" jaw Paramo I have to drop in to the base..... and as a "third hand" to hold stuff out in the field & light bashing of things - it's just the job & for way less than you could make one from scratch for.

I would never have thought to use one as a panel stand, anything with "bike" on it doesnt get my attention normally, it will now!

It's stuffed away in the shed atm - since changing job I've not needed to carry it about & use it in the van like I used to.

You're right it's not suited for heavy vice work of course - but I needed something light, portable and foldable so it didn't take too much space in the Kangoo small van. I never intended to use it like a heavy bench mounted vice or expect it to cope with those kinds of forces.... but then you'd not expect to easily carry a vice bench! Horses for courses & all that.

I used it to do jobs like clamp cables & hold them while I hand crimped cables lugs on with a 2-handed manual crimper (I also used to clamp a heavy Hydraulic Cable Crimper into the vice making it much easier to insert, hold & crimp 240mm heavy cable crimps on), to fit Powerlocks & that sort of thing - as a 3rd-hand (working solo) to hold stuff to work on rather than for heavy hammering or levering/bending of stout metal items.
