Hyundai 1.2 2009 model and has done 30k miles, a relatives car.
The engine management light is on and my ebay cheapie reader diagnosed cam sensor and another time air flow sensor.
Talking to the Hyundai service manager today he suggests it will be neither, apparently that model had a habit of stretching the timing chain, this can cause an occasional feeling of a miss on the engine (lasts for a second) and at times a reduction in power, both these things happen at times but not a lot.
I originally went down the line that the cat was getting clogged due to it's low use but I have torn it's backside out to burn the rubbish out with no results.
I mentioned the car only does 16 miles a week at most and will probably not be used for much longer so she was a bit reluctant to spend lots of money on fixes when it is useable as it is, albeit annoying at times.
His quick fix suggestion was put a heavier grade oil in it and it has been known to solve the problem, something to do with the hydraulic cam chain tensioner.
Any views from those in the know very welcome and if the idea is ok what oil would be suitable?
Cheers
