ok so I need to stick a cat flap in this door to save trashing the door , could I remove the panel pictured ,? it does have a beading on the outside .im assuming the panel is glued in but I'm not too sure ....
My plan was to replace it with plywood or similar and cut the cat hole in that , so if we move (or the cats do )

What does the collective think ??

If you ease off the moulding it should come out. The panel will be a slightly loose fit to allow for the wood moving.

If built traditionally the panel will be rebated in.

If there is beading remove it gently and see what you have. Alternatively cut a rebate remove the panel a use a bead to retain your panel

Probably not. The panel more than likely sits inside a groove and the beading is just for show.
Pop one bead off and it will be obvious.

If that's got a bead holding it, then you're likely to find it's just siliconed, or similar, in, once you pop the bead. Take one bead out & check, to be sure.

Well ,took a bead out and the panel just seems to siliconed in ,so easy enough to swop for a piece of ply
