they had to cut the misus out verry badly bruised allover i stood and looked at the taxi driver and thought about hitting him if youngster had been in the back he deffo would have been took to hospital and me locked up

Have you heard about the speed camera set up in derbyshire. Its cost thousands. It encompasses so many roads and what ever way you go you get done as it averages your speed. Problem is there is one road that hasnt been cammed and the whole thing is a fook up! More of our money down the drain.

I drove taxis part-time for a while until one night when a Metro van pulled out on me when I was halfway across a roundabout. I literally had time to go "Sh-" before I hit it. The Metro exploded, baby carrier was thrown out of the rear window and bounced across the roundabout. The van traveled about 100 yards, spinning like a top. My 1200 Lada spun on its axis and stopped. Far be it for me to cast aspersions about speed here, but I digress.
Police attended, said it was clearly her fault; boss attended, told me to go back to the office, have a brew and take a minibus out for the rest of the shift.
Next day I got called to the local Police station, was interviewed and charged with driving without due care etc.
Fine, I said, as long as she is too. But no, just the taxi driver.
Woman driving the Metro managed to produce 3 so-called witnesses, all of whom claim to have been stood on the forecourt of a petrol station (as you do ), all of whom claimed they saw me 'doing at least 80'... and all of whom lived within 3 doors of the woman.
The officer who attended the scene and subsequently interviewed me, denied on tape saying that he'd told me it was her fault.
The reason for the charge was, surprise surprise, that she was claiming to have whiplash. Didn't matter about my sprained wrist (from the steeering wheel being wrenched round), oh no.
It all looked likely to get a bit expensive but luckily the Crown Prosecution Service had more sense than the Plod and threw the charge out. Perhaps the concept of a 1200 Lada doing 80mph UPHILL was too much for them.
A year later the Metro was still under a tarpaulin on her front garden, the Lada had been stripped to keep the rest of the fleet going and I was driving a hearse for the Co-op funeral service
I found out later from a Police motorcyle section officer who instructed on the local rider training scheme that the officer at the scene was roasted for not following procedures - neither of us was breathalysed, no notes taken, yadda yadda. Let's hope he learned his lesson and didn't try to stitch anyone else up afterwards.

I shall refrain from expressing my thoughts and experiences of the plod, suffice to say the above is typical of their attitude and agenda. My advice to anyone in similar circumstances would be to claim that shock has caused lack of recall of the accident and only give a statement after receiving advice from a solicitor. Also, note carefully at the scene any witnesses for either party and ask the attending Police if the other party is claiming any witnesses.

Treat them like enemies. For they certainly wont be on your side on every occasion right or wrong...

On one of my accidents I was hit by a uninsured driver according to the police (and he had no tax either I noticed at the time) in a borrowed car. Although he managed to avoid getting prosecuted for it which I thought was very strange. Especially as 6 years earlier they'd successfully prosecuted me for having no insurance because I'd managed to invalidate my insurance by breach of a technicality in the small print, even though no accident had happened. Giving me 6 points and a large fine.

After 2 years of wrangling, solicitors, back and forth to physio etc, paying my own ambulance bills out my pocket, repaired my own bike with my own money, the MIB (motorist insurance bureau, they are who you claim against for uninsured drivers) rejected my claim against him as he did after all have insurance, but had refused to supply correct details to either me or the police.
Weirdly I thought that was a offense too. But again, no prosecution.
After managing to jump through all the hoops, my solicitor eventually contacted the real insurance company, who demanded I see their specialist etc etc (2+ years after the event, still had some knee damage to show for it).
Which prompted a letter from them to arrive on the 3rd anniversary of the claim. Pointing out that it was now outside the statutatory limit and suggesting the claim be dropped. Which my solicitor also strongly advised me to do so.

So, I was drove into by a driver and spent ages in physio getting blood clots broken up, who did everything he could to cause as much hassle to everyone, and I ended up thousands out of pocket. And he got off without a blemish or so much as a telling off. I found out years later that he was the son of the local assistant chief constable.

Justice and there to help? dont make me laugh.

I did that over my accident. The accident was investigated and case closed as the guy who investigated it was the coppers own boss! They shared an office if not desk together. After three years my claim is still on going.

As for independant witnesses during a crash, they cannot be testement to speed as they are not trained, but can be testify to what happened. If there is a person in a car as passenger, they are not considered credible witnesses as they will have some biased connection to the driver. Also it doesnt matter if you are doing 100mph the duty of care is on the person pulling out of a junction. I was told this by my solicitor and the police funnily enough. Thats why the CPS would of thrown it out.

You got stiffed Fluffy because a claim need only be initiated withing the 3-year time limit. After that it can go on forever. Mine is approaching 2 years now.

thats the cat and fiddle road from Macclesfield to Derby. I work with some of these idiots with bad attitudes to bikers, one comment I received was the sooner us bikers end up in coffins the better, and these are the ***** that will block you from filtering in traffic.

i haven't been back to commet on this because on sunday at 5.50pm on the a583 a fella i new was killed in a head on with a car Rob was killed on impact but another mate who was with him spent around 20 mins trying to revive him untill the paramedics turned up but due to the horrific injurys nothing could be done i wanted to post this because one i am very sad that another person i no has died and my thoughts go out to his family, but something a mate of mine said to me yesterday and he is a biker as well he said he feels sorry for the car driver who was in noway to blame but has to live with this for the rest of there lives..i dont think i had ever considered that before and has really had me thinking so just thought i would pass it on R.I.P Rob

its always hard when someone you know dies in such circumstances
as for this topic there are good and bad on both sides.
there are plenty of bikers that ride like they are invincible and due to the car out numbering bikes even more stupid car drivers.
some bikers kill themselves my mate did through riding like a fool infact 2 mates did
but also another guy i knew did when a car hit him head on ive also got other mates that survived cars hitting them but have been left with permenent injurys.
i dont mind bikers at all and move over to let them pass where as the idiots that we have here for taxi drivers i will slow down everytime as they are the worst drives i ve ever come accross.

Was going up the A1 at the weekend, on my 1975 Vespa (no indicators) and ended up behind a lorry doing about 40 (sounded ill)

Now trying to maintain speed AND indicate with your right arm, while trying to stay behind the lorry (as opposed to in the back of it) and watch for anyone kind enough to let you out is not easy.

I'd like to see most car drivers do anything as complicated as that. Turning the air conditioning up and adjusting the lumbar support in your heated seat while the automatic windscreen wipers & headlights activate doesn't count.

I had an interesting chat with a young lad the other day and as it turns out his mother in the passenger seat. He pulled out of a junction infront of me, there was NO WAY he didnt/couldnt see me. I'm not exactly small, on a bright green 2 stroke MX bike with my headlight on!
He went white when I informed hom of exactly how much it would cost him if he knocked me off and I was out of work for a mere 6 months + the bike + compensation for the injuries...... I think we got up to around 250K..... And he actually said 'sorry I didnt see you'!
I replied with 'OK, lets just take it as read that if you had knocked me off and I wasnt too badly injured I would put my armoured gloves to good use and you wouldnt be driving away......


The best bit...... His Mum started to really give him some proper ear-bashing as I pulled away.

A good friend of mine gave me some good advice the other day.

Rather than looking at the eyes of a driver waiting to pull out of a junction and thinking have they seen me have they seen me? look at the wheels of their car. If they start to roll forward - take evasive action.

Even if they have seen you they aren't thinking "I wouldn't like to crash into them", they're thinking "Can I get out in front of them in time?"

Good work on the impromptu lecture though!

The judge has just decided that the copper that knocked me off will be paying £675,250.57 plus interest. Pity its not out of his pocket that would make people sit up and notice others on the road.

I was fairly laid-back because although the bike was bent, I wasn't and it was a clear-cut case of me stopping at a crossing and the lad driving into the back of me and punting me 40 feet down the road; bang to rights I thought, Driving Without Due Care if ever you saw it.
Anyway, ma arrives, goes into a huddle with sonny-Jim and by the time Policeman Plod had arrived she'd fabricated a story and got him to tell it as the truth! (Said fairytale since retracted by the other party in light of the eye-witness statements).
PC Bobby Copper licks his pencil and writes in his notebook, decides that as nobody's hurt and we're both insured, he can leave us to it and heads off for doughnuts.
So I got a newer bike out of it but the insurers are still arguing the toss over my no-claims because the kiddo refuses to admit it was his fault - even though the insurers agree that if you ram someone from behind, it's your fault
The one single fact that should make the whole bunch of them sit up and take action - if not the Police - is that if he couldn't stop for me, how was he planning to stop for the two pedestrians I was stopped for?

I wouldnt be shocked if they couldnt agree that its not your fault.
I know someone who ended up going to court to sort out his claim after some years because he was stopped at a pedestrian crossing on his bike, and a car skidded into him from behind. In court the "experts" for the other insurance company claimed he'd put his gs1000 motorcycle in reverse by mistake and drove back into their client causing the accident until my friend stood up in court and pointed out to them that motorcycles dont actually have a reverse gear, a fact that had sailed past the experts testifying for the other party... Yes we know some very rare examples do (dnieper,ural , some goldwings) but not a gs1000... He got his compo in the end, after years of fighting...
