So, my neighbour is clearing out his mother's house since she has gone into a home (at 95) The house is next door to ours and has some big barns and lots of old kit.
Clearing one lean-to exposed an old Energic tractor, a 511 (google it) and I asked him what he was going to do with it. 'Scrap it, I suppose, unless you want it'. Now, I have several projects... and really don't need another one. But... It is in surprisingly good nick for close on 70yrs old. 11hp single pot petrol air-cooled donk with a magneto. Probably not used for 40yrs, as his father died young.
Looks like it will migrate over to my barn and come in useful on our bit of land. Engine turns (a plus!) but I might need to strip it and grind valves etc, not to mention change the oil.. Sheet metal work is mild surface rust only, so no prob. Carb is odd, but no doubt will clean up. All the blades of the engine cooling fan have disappeared (?) but I can sort that.
Feeling the interest that a deserving case needs.. fool? of course, but not alone on this site
