Hi I am a novice welder and am trying to repair my moggie. I have an old topmig 150 that I am have trouble with. Three main problems . 1/ Wire feed is severly impacted if I put even a gentle curve in the torch lead , 2/ I seem to have to have the power upto setting 5 on power to weld car body thickness steel 3/ wire spool keeps turning the knurled adjustment as it feeds..
I have put a new plastic liner in, replaced the wire with a new shiny reel, added a pipe to keep the torch lead straight as it comes from the unit . Any ideas? Would a little 100 gasless be better for body work? I have an arc welder for heavy stuff.
