I picked up this old spindle moulder a couple years ago it been sat under a sheet outside ever since.
It came real cheap and I did have the intention of boring a load of fixing holes in it a using it for a welding table. Anyhow since I have been doing the shepherd hut I have quite enjoyed the wood work side of things so this past week or so I have uncovered the spindle moulder and started sorting out what's what, I first started freeing off the vertical slide and shaft, I fixed the motor back on, checked out the bearing and spindle, cleaned out the electric side of things, you could say it needed cleaning,
fitted a stop start switch and hey presto it works real nice. I have made a start cleaning the rust from the table and it not looking to bad.
I have done a bit of research and my best guess is its made by T. Robinson & Son Limited Rochdale, Lancashire and I think they went over or were bought out by Wadkin. There are a couple of tell tale signs its a Robinson ie where the badge has been ground out there are a couple bits left that resemble the name Robinson and the motor tensioner handle is a Robinson handle I have no idea of age.
This week I have been making up a safety hood and fence, mainly using ofcuts of 5/6mm box as they are quite scary when they power up. Here is what I have done so far
