Old Portamig Kingfisher Power Settings

I've got an old Portamig Kingfisher 220, I got it a couple of years ago and starting to teach myself Tig but other things got in the way and haven't touched it in well over a year, partly due to the hassle of having to run a 32A extension lead from the consumer unit. I'm just in the process of connecting up a dedicated supply for it so I can start using it again.

My question is would anybody know or have links to anywhere that could give rough power output setting for the 10 dial increments or will this have to be measured. If the latter what would be the best method?

Am I missing something obvious, but isnt it going to be very close to a fraction of 210 amps.(220 max - 10 min)
5/10 will be around 105 amps etc

Actually I think it is (what I said) +10
So 5/10 would be 210/2 +10 = 115

0 would be 210/0 +10 = 10

10 would be 210/1 +10 =220 etc

That assumes it is a linear relationship, 10A to 31A is a big step where as 199A to 220A is relatively small.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't gone down this route before as I recall being told the original company ceased and although the brand was resurrected there wasn't support for the older machines. Will give them a shout to see if they can confirm the 'obvious' below lol!

No worries, I just set a max on the LED display and let my right foot do the rest most of the time I have not got a clue exactly what current I am using.

I'd not worry too much if you cant get the manual, just having a play with some scrap will soon tell where you need to set it and if you need to run a little hotter say.

I have a transformer TIG with a similar dial. It is not linear on the dial. 0-10 in the 20-220A range, 5 is about 90 amps.

It is a linear pot, just a nature of how these work.

Thanks for all the replies, I just got a response back from Richard at Technical Arc

"It's simply linear, 1 - 10, is min 10 amps to max 220A therefore for instance 5 =50% of max amps therefore around 110amps"
