Yeah it was the vegans that had beef with it, something to do with one of the ingredients coming from an animal, I think it might have been for the clear window bit on them.
I think the amount of meat in the new notes was less than if someone ate a Greggs sausage roll and passed the note to you.
The dogs can smell plastic. They have them out in the Far East for sniffing out pirated DVDs.

my dog sniffs round all my pockets when I come home from work for the gravy bone biscuits I sometimes have in them , bang on every time im sure our lass is similar but she sniffs out the money

Its a tiny, tiny amount of tallow (animal fat) added to the plastic before it's processed into the clear film, it allows processing as a slip modifier and helps with the gloss of the finished film. I believe it's actually impossible to make without it.

I was fortunate enough to have a tour around the banknote facility, and trust me when I say it's VERY secure.Short of a fully equipped assault team with explosives, you aren't getting in. Nor can anyone sneak material out - I was racking my brains for a way to work a heist
The rough-finished notes go on to a De la Rue factory to get the final printing, but most of the security marks already placed here.

the company I buy cardboard boxes from supplies boxes to a factory making bank notes (no idea where/which one)
talking to the driver, every pallet is unloaded from the truck X-rayed and then re-packed onto a new pallet.... while he's locked in a small glass room, which is inside another room with no windows so he can't see out
