I have been following this for some time, probably the best & most informative you tube channel is Just Icelandic, https://www.youtube.com/@JustIcelandic/videos,

Everything points to this being a major eruption.

I hope this is stable it under my feet here in Northumberland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whin_Sill
Part of it forms cullernose point a couple of miles south of Craster(Famous for the kippers) where it juts out into the north sea. Well worth a walk to if ever you're in the area especially when the kittiwakes are nesting.
Incidentally its a great deep water rock mark for the seafishermen among us. Lovely red cod out of the kelp beds. Hard on terminal tackle mind.
