Hi. We are manily a generator co on industrial stuff. However we get asked to repair lots of weird and wonderful stuff, and last week someone brought in an ancient Max Arc set.
We last saw something with a Mighty Midget welder-alternator maybe 15-years ago, and it was old then. That one used a Lister 2-cyl ST2 or SR2 diesel engine but running at 3000rpm - so it made a noise like the arrival of Armageddon.
If memory serves that one had lost its residual magnetism so we were able to re-flash the thing and get it to work - and when it did it was a cracking welder unit.
This one uses a Briggs Side-valve petrol engine rated at 200A welding max.
What I'd like to get hold of is some technical manual, data and measurements, maybe a wiring diagram for the Mighty Midgets - we could then have a crack at trying to get some life back out of the old girl.
I noticed that a fine gentleman with the handle ZZR1200 stated he had a manual for this alternator. Can anyone help?
