a plastic bucket .if your putting a new edge on the files just leave them in for about 5 hours then give them a good scrub and a bit of wd40 and they will be nearly good as new

Worth about 2-5 quid if you're lucky. Every so often someone at my company gets sacked for selling the scrap batteries..

You need a plastic bucket marked "PE" for polyethylene, it is acid-resistant. Be very careful handling it (i would suggest buying acid-resistant gloves) as sulphuric battery acid will burn and melt your skin quite easily. Also be mindful of the vapour, it is extremely harmful!

I run a garage - the lads who collect scrap give us £5 ea for batteries - whatever the size.

You gotta be careful storing batteries - PE bunded container - be careful of the fumes.

I also have a hole in my garage floor - where batteries have boiled over the years - charging them.

That is surprising. I used to get about 3 quid for most and a fiver for big ones like 019s. At work we return them to our supplier for them to be recycled. Maybe the price of lead has gone up more than i thought.

im an old git so grandads rightswhen you see what the chemical works release in to the river at high tide near us its a drop in the ocean

Most drain unblockers / cleaners are based on sulfuric acid so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

H2SO4 breaks down very quickly nothing to worry about.

Does that neutralise the lead content? I thought old battery acid had a high lead content and was classed as a hazchem Don`t think its a good idea to tip it down the drain or introduce it into the watercourse.

I took 4 car batteries and an old bike battery up to the scrapman expecting a couple of quid and got £28, nice surprise and it got me a bottle of Whisky.
