Yup, i had the bsa on the mezz upstairs, the triumph 500 in the workshop and he couldn't care less, he knew when things got busy, so did i. No problem with me staying late (up til 2am sometimes) when a big order came in. What was it to him if i messed around on the lathe for an hour or two when things were quiet.

what bike do you usually ride?. I bought a Bonnie America cruiser only new bike I've ever owned, comfortable as owt unfortunately gout probs have stopped me riding it this year but I am impressed with it.

Triumph t90 upped to 500cc's. Had it years and has never really let me down, punctures and the like were the worst, a snapped clutch cable (a crappy taiwanese pattern one). As i said its fine on the road apart from its ability to outrun its brakes.

The new bonny's are nice bikes, i have nothing against them.

No i think they were all cast iron, someone told me the 6t thunderbird had 5 fins and the t110 4 fins on the heads, or something like that.

my 55 T110 was cast iron head also had magneto and dynamo the later pre units had alloy heads not sure on the year though also alternator

Yeah it has the 7" tls from the t90 on it, its good but needs constant fettling. I have a 4 leading shoe drum from a suzuki gt750 kettle for the triton. If i can find another one cheap, i'd put it on the 500.

Yeah it has the 7" tls from the t90 on it, its good but needs constant fettling. I have a 4 leading shoe drum from a suzuki gt750 kettle for the triton. If i can find another one cheap, i'd put it on the 500.

I had a 5TA and if I used the front brake I got another 10mph out of it.

5TA was single leading shoe front
but remember some drivers don't have to use brakes a lot apart from the idiot's in cars
you used to always try to read the road ahead to avoid have to slam the brakes on or drop the bike to get out of the way

I think the wind resistance was as good as the brakes on my 5TA

That is true, but the road conditions were so much different back then, the roads are now much busier, cars are faster and are driven faster, can stop faster and the idiots driving them expect you to be able to stop fast too.

My rocket 3 had a 4ls fitted by the previous owner, it was an awesome stopper, think it was made by Rivetts. Cant remember the Dia but it seemed like a brake drum with a tyre fitted to it. (shortest spokes in the world)

Yes, a bit gutless until you hit a certain rev range and then it goes like a scalded cat.
