ok don't laugh to lound

ok i thought it was going to be easy put the gas on and pull the trigger but o my god this is so hard to do have a look don't laugh to hard
what am i doing wrong i could not get a flow or any sort of penetration
i tried the welder on the settings 1/min 2/min 3/min and a/2/max a/3/max but all look the same to me have i got the gas up to high ? the 6m wire speed is on 1 and i had it on 2
but i can not seam to get a run it just spits the welder is a clarke 100E mk2

Deano, you have very little gas flowing mate! Can you actually hear the gas hiss when you press the trigger? (make sure you don't poke the wire into your ear!!).
If you're using disposables (which I assume you are) you need to have the reg fully open to get enough gas out.
Also, if yo're welding outside the wind will blow the gas away so you need to set up a decent windbreak.

yes i am welding outside and yes i can here the gas hiss when i press the trigger

ok here is my next attempt the metal is a bit thicker (with gas on. the first 3 lines )
(with gas off the second 3 lines ) but it is stall spitting on both lines i get the roar and try to move off and get the pulse spitting/ roar / pulse spitting/roar/ is this down to me or the speed of me trying to weld i am pushing the gun i tried to slow down but the time i get the roar i have a big build up of weld to push over and get the pulse spitting i hope you can understand what i am trying to say
the wire is on 1 the setting is on A/3max and i am on V big gas bottle

Ok Deano, look at all 6 of your welds, 3 gas on, 3 gas off but the welds all look the same, this means you still don't have sufficient gas flowing over the welds. You can see that there has been some gas over the welds as the no-gas 3 are very sooty. If you're still welding outside then you need to rig up something to stop the wind blowing away the gas and maybe even turn your gas flow up quite a bit to compensate.
How many litres per minute have you got the regulator set to at the moment?
Are you using co2 or ar/co2?

ok the gas bottle it says size v BOC GAS COMPRESSED GAS 2
the regulater set at FH 20 / PH 10 if this means anything to you.

so if i have not got my gas up high enough it will start spitting
and due to wind blowing gas away from the job and not having a good wind brake
ok so its down to the gas not high enough or wind blowing away

your working presseur should be 15lbs turn the gas full on then ajust the regulator till your working presseur is 15lbs (if your inside no wind) ajust higher when outside

Deano, you need to set the flow rate with the trigger pressed, yours has a gas valve in the torch so you can set the flow with the power off to save wasting wire. For better accuracy you could invest in a 'pea-shooter' (about a tenner) which fits over the shroud and will give you an accurate reading of the actual gas flow at the nozzle. I'm still convinced your problem lies with the gas being dispersed by the wind though, that's one of the major drawbacks of welding outside.
Also, the details off the cylinder label still don't say what gas you're actually using, the label should mention CO2 (carbon dioxide) or 'Argoshield' which is Ar/CO2 (argon+ carbon dioxide).
The figures you quoted could actually be CFH which is cubic feet per hour and LPM (litres per minute) in which case you technically have it set about right for indoor welding but like I said, the gauge needle will drop when you press the trigger.
Wang the flow up to about 30 CFH - 14 LPM with the trigger pressed and see if it makes any difference to the weld appearance, if it does then you know you're on the right track so just a bit of fine fettling and you're away .
