Oil Restriction

I've just removed this combined turbo oil feed and return pipe work off a car with a failed turbo. I wonder why the turbo failed.

do u really need that RTV with that gasket

No you shouldn't use any sealer with that type of gasket. A new gasket should be fitted every time, someone decided to re use an old gasket with a load of rtv.

like the VWs with blocked oil pick up pipes normally full of RTv and or orange plastic from the dip stick tube!

This is a 1.6tdi golf, sump is being removed and cleaned, pick up pipe will be either replaced or given a clean before new turbo fitted. The turbo that came off is a very recent replacement so someone killed a few hundred quids worth of a new turbo for the sake of a gasket that costs less than fiver.

Numptyies huh. You know it will be over the strainer in the pick up also
