I have one of the cheap 12v battery ones...xc70 P2 has it's battery in the boot but I think removing the main fuse cover exposed a nice 12v supply!
You need to upgrade to a P3 - battery is under the bonnetI have one of the cheap 12v battery ones...xc70 P2 has it's battery in the boot but I think removing the main fuse cover exposed a nice 12v supply!
That’s how places like Quickfit do oil changes, they don’t mess about under the car etc. Or so I’ve been told, never been to one myself.I was reluctant until I saw the garage use a suction through the dipstick hole so I bought a Lidl 12v suction pump. Used it a couple of times now does the job. VW don’t actually sell a sump plug washer, you have to buy a sump plug with a captive one!
Was the same with my 12v Amazon jobbie...I had to get a reducer and some thinner hose for it.dip tube on my Surf is tiny and the hose won't fit.
They aren't meant for petrol! Lucky it didn't explode...I killed my Lidl one after emptying the petrol tank on the hot rod, no idea what went but it never run again![]()
We found out recently most Vauxhall dumps these days are glued on (no bolts) as a hire van my parents had started leaking quite a bit. Eventually AA chap came out and said it had taken a knock by a previous hirer and it was lucky the sump hadn't fallen off completely.Citroen DS, you have to remove a plate on the sump to get to the oil filter. And if you don't line up the arrows when putting it back, the oil supply is cut off and it seizes.
You never drain all the oil in an engine even when you use the sump plug, there's always oil left in the oil galleries, oil pump, casting gullies/dips, rocker shafts and the like....I've used one in the past. I think the main problem is that you don't extract all of the oil. There will be a little bit left in the sump.
