if burnt it produces dioxins which are very bad, to prevent dioxins forming it has to be burnt at 1000 deg for 2 seconds !!
Every body has a trace of pcb in them because of the world fish contamination!
Unless you are a polar bear then you are probably dieing of it as we speak !
I didnt say I was burning it to 'clean it' we were burning it for heat in the workshop in a none flue heater! but at the time didnt know of the possibility of the oil, containing pcb's we had thousands opon thousands of gallons of oil so it seemed a waste not to use it for heat.I don't believe you can burn PCB based oils and not produce dioxins with any sort of conventional fire, however fierce. There has to be added oxygen to be certain of getting it hot enough, which means a proper disposal facility.
what is wrong with the oil thats in it has it been lost or contaminated ??burnt or water in it . the only settings are the amps marked on the switch dialHi could anyone tel me where i can purchase shell diala b ...oil for my rt180 oxford or a suitable replacement oil...ive had all the usual remarks scrap it its a dinsaur my old man has used this welder for years and now its mine i thought i would refurb it for the next generation to play with.Also does anyone know where i can find any info on these old tanks ie: settings oils etc
