Picked up a second hand multi fuel heater. It sat out in the rain for a few weeks and was full of grot.
Cleaned up and fresh fuel and it all seems to be there. Clearly had someone in the box before and numerous missing screws. Hmmm
Might be user error here but I'm having issues with the control valve when "on". It doesn't want to keep a level of oil. I am not letting it into the burner in the belief that it will set the oil level whilst cold and off? Then when lit it will maintain this level?
The oil simply keeps filling until the safety float cuts it off.
The main float (larger of the two in the centre ) doesn't seem to be controlling the oil level at all if it cannot pass into the burner.
Float mechanism is all free moving.
The needle valve? Works on the safety shut-off but not for the main float.
It has adjustment through the centre to set the level, any attempt at adjustment slows or speeds up the rate at which the safety will trip.
This really has me stumped, but I have no experience of carburettors which this seems to basically be.
I can't find any references to this issue anywhere other than a rogue service manual that mentioned it'll be difficult to fix...
All else fails I can get a new control unit and forget about it. Would be nice to fix it though.
