Working my way through my recently acquired Alvis. I have decided to leave brake drum skimming alone for now and to move on to the next 'interesting repair' on my to-do list.
The steel mesh filter element in the 'air silencer' has been replaced with a hacked about 'pancake' type with a paper element which is well past its best - and doesn't really fit anyway.
The Alvis specialist Red Triangle doesn't list a replacement and I haven't found a paper element of a usable size.
Any suggestions on sourcing a replacement traditional mesh 'filter element'?
I hoped these might be a standard-sized catalogue item back in the day and I might find one listed under another vehicle - even a tractor!
These are too big:
Does anyone have access to a supplier's catalogue with dimensions?
It would be about 148mm OD and 37mm thick or 5 13/16" by 1 7/16" in Imperial which may be more relevant.
If all else fails I suppose I could just get one of these and make a better fist of it than the previous owner.
