I have never had much luck with fire cement - it always seems to crack and fall out.
I see there are 2 kinds of silicone available - one is safe to 300C and the other 1200C! That is a fair difference. Natural choice would be to go for the higher rating but does it have any drawbacks compared to the 300C one?
Any idea what temp the vitreous pipe on an oil aga reaches? I suspect a lot less than a woodburner?
I need to dismantle it to try to clean out a the hard black glazed on deposit - it looks like it is now obsidian lined - could be easier to replace the pipes! The chimney itself is clear had a camera up it.
