These scum don't realise they take so much more than material things.

more in there than that, but you dont know my situation, and what I was doing or needed, because the need was to be moved easily and it is not that easy to move 20 ton about without a great deal of trouble.
Containers dont have wheels on them. And it was in a 'secure' compound with a person living on site.

You can put a container on a step-frame trailer just as easy as you can with an artic fridge box - and they are way more secure.
I wouldn't rely upon the site to be secure, people go out, fall asleep, and without a very heavy duty perimeter it's hard to keep things secure in a yard.

most of tools i have i inherited from dad, but also some of my granddads and great granddads tools that still are in regular use, not to mention tools we have all made.
i know my tools feel like part of me.
can still feel them around when using their tools.

The owner I have known since he was young, I used to do work for his Dad from 35 yrs ago and him now so no problem.+ He has no need to steal from anybody.

Yep, though you can take steps to control the environment by lining it and so on. Please don't take it the wrong way, I do feel for your loss, but there has to be a more secure way to store such stuff Was this freezer box sat on a trailer, or had it been lifted off? I presume you were using it somewhat as a mobile workshop?

Having seen the ingenious ways of locking a sea container, and thinking they'll never get in. Only to see how easy it is to stihl saw, Gas Axe, and now Plasma cut them open like a tin of beans. I would favour a fridge unit over one.

As Norm says they don't sweat. And if you work in them, they are cool in summer and hold heat in winter. But most importantly are time consuming to break into. esp if the door fittings etc are made from Stainless steel, it wouldn't stop the saw or plasma, but it will slow them down, or make them think twice.


I'm a BIG believer in Prevention is always better than cure. A motion detection CCTV system, might have filmed them scoping the place out before returning to break in. And if setup correctly will have very few files to review on the daily basis.

Having seen the ingenious ways of locking a sea container, and thinking they'll never get in. Only to see how easy it is to stihl saw, Gas Axe, and now Plasma cut them open like a tin of beans.

We had a shipping container broken into at work: the scrotes hacksawed through the cast/ forged hinges until one door fell away. It happened in a 25 minute window between me leaving the office and the alarm company calling me to say the alarm had been triggered on an outbuilding: the container was the outbuilding, we used it to store our radioactives. Sadly there were none in stock when the scrotes got in. The truth is that if there had been any and they'd gone missing, the Env Agency would have been all over us.
We know they hacksawed the hinges off as (a) you could see the teeth marks and (b) there was a broken blade on the floor...

It is a rigid artic 43ft fridge trailer, so bed is 5ft off ground and top is 15ft high, was going to remove the axles /wheels etc when I got to greece and kit it out as an office /store would have been easy way, as half the work is done and be easier on the aircon. Locks only keep honest people out!!
