Thanks, I've researched this already, the reason I can't do it is that my workshop is at the back of my cottage, and due to space, boundaries etc, I can't get the the tank anywhere far enough away from either building to comply with regs.how big is the space you what to heat ? well sealed up (holes in roof etc. ?) any insulation ?
I'd go for a waste oil burner... pick up old engine/gearbox/whatever oil from garages for free (they have to pay to have it taken away) then pour it into your tank (get a bunded tank on ebay)
then you can turn your heat on/off with the flick of a switch... or a timer... or a thermostat etc. etc. :-)
