I do that too, but then always lightly rub the skin with oil so the skin goes crispy

We’ve just had a neff induction one installed. Apparently there’s a worldwide shortage on one of the components so delivery times are extended. I think it needed 30A from memory too - was surprised at the size of the load.

did my kitchen a year and a bit ago was putting a 16 amp in for the cooker hob(i never cheaked) good job when cough cough the sparky fitted the wiring i was passing the cooker shop and poped in and bought a hob and cooker opened the instructions 30amps rethink and a 6mm cable installed on a new circit did not stop at that had to have new tails to the fuse board as well worth cheaking the tails

The shortage is part of the control panel ( rotary encoder ) used on the twist control knobs.
The factory in Japan which had been meeting 80% approx of worldwide demand for the part ( also used within the motor industry ) was damaged by earthquake.
Neff and others had for find other sources, which were not being manufactured in the quantities required worldwide.
The backlog had been created whilst new plant lines were set up in other factories.
We are fortunate that they kept us updated throughout the process with expected lead times on the models that had been affected ( some were taken off the list for a while to concentrate on more popular models ).

I think Neff were after approx 7000 of the encoders a month to meet demand, which was a small number when compared to motor industry.

Some of the models offer ability to current manage. eg: from the tech spec on that model

Automatic pan recognition
4.6kW power output (20A); current management options for 16A, 13A or 10A connection

If you were running a cable in anyway then pull a 6mm, covers you for everything you might need in the future. You can always derate back at the board if you decide to connect something smaller.

The stock updates were checked this morning on Neff order management system, rather than through an external distributor who promises stock ( which will be available as soon as they have ordered it from the supplier ).
We changed to the direct model because I was getting fed up with distributors who no longer held any stock ( which I understand is harder to have sat on a shelf in todays market ).

Yep what he said. It was the twistfire controller that was the issue. We didn’t have time to wait so went for a touch control one instead. It’s a bit fiddly to use but there weren’t too many options. Sounds like neff are catching up now though so fingers crossed for you.

Hi Matt, the glass on the unit measures 77cm wide and 52cm high

Not to sure what the twist pad controller is. Current one has touch control and all flat. I’d like to keep that style if I can

An update to this Sorry Saga.

It gets worse before it gets better.

Anyway after a rubbish few weeks of illness and then a family bereavement I made it over to @Mattuk to pick up my new Induction Hob. Matt has been ace and educated me on such hobs to help me make my decision.

Get it home and made contact with @eLuSiVeMiTe whom I’d set up to fit it all for me.

My luck is in, Robin is free and over to my house within the hour. I’ve been primed in advance to make preparations as he has to get away pronto.

Ever the consummate professional, Robin makes preparations, gets the tools out, masking tape on worktop, crap all out of the way etc etc etc. I empty units and get vac out.

Then I open hob from packaging, Robin checks size of exixting hole and measures up new hob sizes.

He then goes go check again, possibly a third time but I can’t be sure.

Then “Mate” it’s gonna drop straight in, so it does. New hob is same size as old cut out: me = what a plonker!

Units empty, vac ready and tools out of van, job done with out making any mess at all.

RESULT !

So thanks @Mattuk for supplying the hob and thanks @eLuSiVeMiTe for “fitting” the hob

Note to self “must check sizes first” also have to buy all new pans so they work on induction. Now that I’ve had a play, highly recommended
