Off to pick up some steel, what would work best?

In that case I would still go with drill a 6mm hole and plug weld the bars in, but I would get bars that slip into the empty cases, then glue cases into them to look different

That's the idea of the 10mm bar. A .44 Mag case fits nicely over it.
Is it possible to plug weld vertically? Taking the door off is going to be a pain in the backside.

I have a fix to stop them falling off. That'll come later.

The 1911 is indeed a semi auto .22. The mod is just a dummy to hide the true barrel length, although it can be swapped for a mod.

are you migging it (i woould assume so given the 2mm cabinet door thickness)? if so then yes its easy, just have to find a way to keep the bar inplace lined up over the hole, start in the middle of the hole and work your way around...i find a slightly upwards torch angle (not much at all) helps a little bit.

Yep, it will be mig. I've been out and picked up some steel, enough to have a play around with it tomorrow and get a few practice goes in.

Well, I had a play today. Going to need more practice before I let myself loose on some proper work. All the prep work on the cabinet is done though.

Update. Got a mate to sort this out. I got impatient and it was easier to have him do it.



Still working on it, but I test fitted them and everything is looking good. Need to paint/powder coat it, then add the finishing touches.






They are solid in there, no movement at all.

They might well feel and be secure but I should like to hang such items on the door back like that. One wrong move and it could really mess one up
