Hi guys.
Got my oerlikon citomig mp a while ago.used it three times. Have not used it for a couple of months. Got all set up in the workshop to do some welding. Turned machine on.it came on for 2 seconds I then heard a click and it's turned off. Replaced plug fuses.checked leads and everything . Is there a fuse inside machine.

Sometimes there is, there used to be fuses inside Murex MIGs.

personally think them Oerlikon mugs are cheap for a reason.

Taking it back Monday. Twice the same thing has happened on two new machines. Am pi@@ right off.

Get your money back get a Lorch. I don't particularly like Kemppi as I killed one that was less than a year old. Depends what you are doing with it I guess.

I always look after my equipment. Never gets abused. Only used it a handful of times. A total inconvenience and a waste of a day.

Oh yes this kemppi was looked after but it gave up the ghost. What amperage do you need and what sort of things are you welding?

Most of my stuff I weld is 3 mm up to 8mm thick. Mostly mild steel plate.box section. Brackets .mostly transport related. I am looking at separate tig machine. 200 amps is enough for what I need.

It seems inverter technology is very temprimental. We pay good money for machines that just ain't lasting

Tbh under a £1000 for an inverter MIG isn't what I'd call good money. They're badged up Chinese by the looks. Bear in mind EWM PicoMig is £1900ish, ESAB Caddy 200 is £1000, Kemppi is probably cheapest of big names £940.

Yes I hear what your saying. I don't mind paying the price provided I get the reliability. I can't have this sort of messing about. My last little 130 stick machine had to go back to main dealer.they replaced it free of charge. Apparently it was a board fault that cost more to replace than a new machine.

Wow, thats pretty bad luck. Multiprocess machines always have me questioning the reliability too.

Lorch is worth a look but I don't think they do a small inverter welder. Their smallest is probably the Saprom S3 Mobil which starts at around £5000.

Every bit as good as the German stuff from my experiences.
You must of had a duff machine. All manufacturers let one out from time to time.

That's just unfair.
The only one of the 3 mentioned by Brad that's a mp machine is the ewm. The caddy and minarc are just 200 Mig inverters. Esab do the rebel mp now but not sure if kemppi have such a thing yet.

You want good gear, you gotta shell out the reddies.

I wouldn't say they are as good as the german stuff, but they are definitely better than the run of the mill stuff, their transformer machines were definitely well made and robust. I was using a Kemppi RA320 inverter. Bloody thing would shock me and fry torches, before it started smoking.
