I tried the IE vs Firefox thing and have the same - much faster in Firefox. That's neat. Should imagine they use different conventions for timing rather than it being a download thing - once it's downloaded it repeats rather than asking to be downloaded again.
IE is good at different conventions.
The timing for the gif is .03 seconds per frame making a total of .57 seconds which means firefox displays it correctly and IE doesn't
Firefox definitely loads pages faster and a neat feature I've come across is being able to resume your last session so if it does crash for some reason you can restart it with all the same tabs that you had open. OIther than the font thing which I still can't resolve I'm quite happy with it.

I like Firefox, and it does tend to be more standards compliant than IE, while IE does it's own thing which often would have been a more sensible standard to have had in the first place. Moved over for usability when IE7 went silly little icons in funny places.
I come across that restore session thing whenever I click on a pdf. It doesn't work well with the adobe pdf writer thing. I tell it not to restore the session because it will only break itself again. Don't you hate pdf links that aren't marked as such?

That's M$ through and through for you! Back in the days of IE3 & 4 it used to be hell having to write separate sites more or less and run browser recognition within the code to redirect to the appropriate pages. :full
Malcolm, as to your PDF problem, I have no idea as all mine behave properly. I do use PDF Professional on all the desktops, I'll have a nosey with one of the works machines that I don't use and see how that behaves.
