Aerofastener? Aerolock? Pre nyloc. See them the odd time on Landrovers.

They're a type of locking but. Use them occasionally on machinery where high temps might damage nylocks.

Both, they look like the same nut from a different angle, a philidas turret to be precise as the slots overlap each other, https://www.fastenerdata.co.uk/fast...as/metric-coarse-philidas-turret-class-8.html

Used them when i worked on a production line building diesel engines.

As above it's a philidas nut which is a one piece self locking nut. Usually reusable but I suppose that depends on application.

Yea I've seen all metal lock nuts before with like a split in the locking part ,
I was on a train when I took the pic , theses looked different tho , also note two washers , unless the second was a spring washer ? I didn't have a spanner to take it apart or I would have
