Manufacturers get away with murder

Might actually be safer to fit it within line of sight. Not so far to look away from the road.
They cant just make whatever they want, it all has to pass testing before they can get approval.
VW did manage to come up with a workaround to emissions testing though....

Its in the same place as the factory fitted reverse camera screen on Volvo's and they have been around for a fair while
They are retractable but I would think if running side view cameras must stay up
I think how they police it is ridiculousl anyway penalise hgv's over anything but go round the m25 and watch how many cars have the phone or sat nav slap bang in the middle of the windscreen

If so, the driver can barely see over the steering wheel.

When testing i just look through the screen .
If nothing says to me "Hi i am an obstruction or a stone chip .
The job is a good one
Dont forget the test is minimum standard
As far as air fresheners and furry dice i just remove them

When my car comes back from MOT without fail the rear seat belts are always still fastened - same with different garages too - is is a lazy tester?
Not exactly making me loose sleep, but just wondered.

When I attended a dvsa seminar a number of years ago anything that obstructed the drivers view above the dash line, can’t remember the exact wording used was not allowed. Not sure have that would work with that as it’s oem

I'm not sure if he is lazy, my tester pulls the rear seatbelts out, checks the belt, plugs them in, checks they release properly then plugs them back in again.
So, like yours, they come back plugged in but it seems like it would be less effort to just let them go after he has checked the catch?

I do see quite a few cars where the owners have the rear seat belts plugged in all the time so maybe some people think it just looks tidy?
Or maybe its something to do with the mot itself. Or maybe if vosa pulls you over on the way out of the test its something simple that makes it look like it's been done by the book?

My dad always plugged the rear belts in when he put heavy stuff in the boot as he said it stopped it all coming through in the event of a head-on although I'm pretty sure his car did not have a folding rear seat anyway.

the gps radio and all the gizmos screen are permanently up on the dash board like the truck its a new Peugeot partner its no big deal and doesn't obstruct anything

i asked a tested this exact question.

he said they do it to prove it was tested. he was advised when doing his ministry training that if he left them locked and was spot checked, then its a box ticked in his favour.

your dads correct

it was featured on 5th gear a long while back and in there test the car did better in the crash test as opposed to the one with unbuckled seat belts
