Obelisk

Hi not made anything since I finished my gates a while ago, had 4 lengths of bar and an arrowhead leftover and needing a support for a climbing plant I bought I thought I'd have a go at an obelisk. bit mishapen but hopefully the plant should cover that and I'll just say it's a rustic piece if anyone asks

They are quite awkward to put together aren't they, four sides isnt too bad as the sides are flat, i got quite annoyed with a 5 sided one i made back along.

Yep, not enough hands, clamps too small and an out of level garage floor It's actually straighter than I thought it was going to be Round of applause for the five sider I was thinking of going down to three If I attempt another

What i normally do is a nice hot tack on somewhere fairly central, then fine tune with a bit of physical, till i am happy all the parts are in the right place.

A bit of timber with holes drilled in works on most, just drop the legs into the holes.

before starting make wooden jigs to hold the rods and use a ratchet strap to hold them tight and in place the wood can always be cut to get it out should the need arise

I used a workmate to get the spacing on mine, you can use it to fine tune the spacing and angles
