What's the mix ratio? Not in any way nuclear strength and I would not use on open beds or particularly persistent tough weeds.
But, got a lot of pathways & tarmac drive where weeds are a pain in the gaps.
Took a punt on a known home recipe - spirit vinegar, fine salt, fairy liquid. All off amazon worked out £1 a litre made 10ltr of it.
Should have taken before after pics. Virtually every weed I sprayed it on was dead in 24 hours, very surprised.
More to do, will take some pics, obviously being a bloke I warmed up the vinegar and put more salt & w/up liquid than the online recipe.
Very impressed compared to expensive branded weedkiller
it works quite well on general weeds but no use on brambles big patches of nettles dockings and thistlesJust looked it up. You could just have said white vinegar, @Gragson.
Vinegar will burn/kill the leaf, but will leave the root healthy. Hopefully the salt will do its job on the root.
mares tail wont it grows through tarmacConcrete fits your criteria well. Ho ho.
Don't worry too much about roots coming back, without photosynthesis to refuel they'll die eventually. Just keep on attacking the regrowth
yes it will, but will get you into serious dodo if you get caught, i was told it basically sterilises the soil and breaks most of the anti pollution lawsI'm looking to obliterate small a patch of land with ivy and sorts growing on it. It's not easily accessible so I need something that can be poured or sprayed on. I've tried glyphosate but that didn't do the trick. I've got half a jerry can full of diesel, will that kill it all and stop anything growing forever?
This is the thing, I don't really care if it only burns off the tops which it did pretty amazingly, as new ones will be back next year or sooner, it's just a maintenance thing for me on paths and driveway and at a quid a ltr I'm more than happy to keep respraying the easy stuff and grabbing out the hard stuff which is a small %.Just looked it up. That's the one.
I'm comfortable with the risk.yes it will, but will get you into serious dodo if you get caught, i was told it basically sterilises the soil and breaks most of the anti pollution laws![]()
I sprayed some fairly concentrated salt solution (saturated then dilute by 2) on patio weeds last week; did nothing. What sort of comcentration of salt is needed as s weed killer? Or just sprinkle it on neat?
Easiest, quickest ,cheapest, most effective way is to cut everything back and burn it, then just spot spray off the regen as and when it pops up. Another effective way is to lay/stake down a thick black polythene tarp over the area whiich will suppress/kill off weeds, you can replant through it if you want and remove it spray off unwanted regen at a later date.I'm looking to obliterate small a patch of land with ivy and sorts growing on it. Glyphosate was originally invented as a sprayer cleaner by one of the big boy chemical companies it wasn't designed to be nuclear in any way and its Weedkiller properties were only discovered while safety testing. It can be a pain to use as it does a pretty good job of cleaning out the spray tank, filters and spray lines the only thing is the crud it's picked up can choke the nozzles.I sprayed some fairly concentrated salt solution (saturated then dilute by 2) on patio weeds last week; did nothing.
Roundup and the other glycophosphate products seems to be pretty nuclear to me.
